THAILAND TOURISM FESTIVAL

Thailand tourism festival starts from June 7, 2007

4 June, 2007

The Thailand Tourism Festival 2007 (TTF 2007), the annual travel and tourism event, will be held from June 7 to 10, 2007.

The festival, targeting Thais and expatriate residents, is being conducted at the Challenger Hall 1-2, Impact Muang Thong Thani Exhibition Centre, between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m.

The event will coincide with the Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2007 for international trade visitors and consumers and will help boost further the publicity and promotion of Thailand’s tourism products and services, according to Thai tourism authorities.

This year’s festival will highlight the efforts being done to preserve Thailand’s culture, traditions, and local lifestyles through villages of four regions. Special traditional parades from each of the four regions will be held, along with stage performances to demonstrate local folklore, plays, Thai puppet performances, Khon dance, and the like.

Over 300 exhibitors, including tour operators, travel agents, diving schools and equipment, spas, hotels and accommodation, airlines, golf courses, car rental, souvenirs, local handicrafts, local foods and entertainment suppliers, are expected to participate in the Thailand Tourism Festival 2007.

There will be seminars for the benefit of tourism experts as well as the general public interested in discussing new travel trends, sustainability and marketing.

Other special activities at TTF 2007 will comprise an exhibition held in honour of the Thai King on the occasion of his 80th birthday, an exhibition on Thailand’s history of tourism as well as tourism destinations in the four regions of the country.

In 2006, a total of 13.8 million people from abroad visited Thailand – an increase of 20.01% from 2005.
