HONG KONG SHOPPING FESTIVAL
2007 |
Hong Kong Shopping Festival 2007
starts June 30
7 June, 2007The Hong Kong Shopping
Festival will be held from June 30 to
August 31, 2007.
This year’s festival will coincide
with the 10th anniversary of the
setting up of the of the Hong Kong
Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
Aided by generous support and a host
of special offers and privileges from
different sectors, the 2007 edition of
the Hong Kong Shopping Festival is set
to offer visitors an unforgettable
shopping experience, claim its
organisers.
Lambert Chan, general manager,
destination marketing, the Hong Kong
Tourism Board (HKTB), says the giant
summer shopping promotion, organised
by the HKTB for the sixth consecutive
year, has become a firm fixture on the
city’s events calendar.
This year, the HKTB, in partnership
with MTR Corporation, the underground
railway corporation in Hong Kong, will
publish a shopping guide titled MTR
Easy Ride to Hong Kong Shopping
Festival.
The guide will feature shopping,
dining and sightseeing recommendations
in major tourism districts along the
MTR and a collection of shopping
offers from various MTR station shops.
Visitors who buy the MTR Tourist 1-Day
Pass or Airport Express Tourist
Octopus will receive a free copy of
the shopping guide.
In addition to MTR Corporation,
different sectors across Hong Kong
have confirmed their participation in
the Hong Kong Shopping Festival – they
will extend a host of special offers
for local residents and visitors, some
of which will be themed around the
10th anniversary of the HKSAR. For
example, over 200 dining
establishments will offer special
drinks or dishes at HK$10 each.
Hong Kong’s major tourism attractions,
including Hong Kong Disneyland, Ngong
Ping 360 and Ocean Park Hong Kong,
will organise a variety of promotions.
Other privileges exclusively for
visitors include special 3-day,
2-night room packages and courtesy
offers by some 30 hotels, most of
which will also arrange gifts for
children born in 1997.
Besides, 10 local travel agencies will
provide discounted tourism products
for visitors in July. The offers would
include complimentary tours for
customers born on 1 July 1997, half
price for those born in 1997, and ‘buy
one, get one free’ tour packages.
To offer visitors diverse experience
during the Hong Kong Shopping
Festival, various trade associations
and retail organisations will stage an
array of themed activities and product
expos, including the Chinese Medicine
Expo, Luxury Timepiece Exhibition,
Hong Kong Beauty and Make-up Carnival,
and 2007 Diamond Expo.
Adding to the festival’s thrill would
be a multimedia show named A Symphony
of Lights, complete with pyrotechnic
displays on July 1-8. The HKTB will
also arrange special pyrotechnics for
the harbour extravaganza every
Saturday from July 14 to August-end.
