ZTE HSPA data cards which connect at lightning speeds have been launched. The two HSPA (abbreviation for high-speed packet access) data cards are named MF 662 and MF 645. While MF 662 is a compact data card which can be used in data card slots of laptops, while the MF 645 is a USB TV card.
The Chinese vendor has not announced the price and availability of the high-speed HSPA data cards so far. The latest ZTE data cards are designed to make full use of HSPA wireless networks. ZTE said that the MF 645 data card is the smallest TV data card in the world.
ZTE said that its high-speed HSPA data cards enable data transfer at 21.6 MBPS download speed and 5.76 MBPS upload speed. This is among the fastest wireless broadband connections in the world. HSPDA for laptops facilitate mobile television, downloading large audio-video data and large-volume emailing. Apart from fast downloads and uploads of files, the superfast HSPA speeds with data cards enable fast gaming, since latency levels are low.
HSPA is a 3G technology, which is still a far way from India. HSPA has both HSDPA (high-speed downlink packet access) and HSUPA (high-speed uplink packet access). HSPA us used in GSM networks, whereas EVDO, the other high-speed data transfer technology, is based on Qualcomm’s CDMA.
ZTE’s MF 662 TV data card has dimensions of 69x27x12mm, while the ZTE MF 645 HSPA card has dimensions of 93mmX28.8mmX12.9mm. Once 3G networks become active in India, telecom operators providing wireless broadband connections will start offering devices which can access Net from their portable gadgets. Already, ZTE is present in this wireless data access segment in India, which is dominated by CDMA providers. Once HSPA networks become active in India, ZTE’s latest data cards should also make their entry into India. telecom operators like Idea and Airtel which offer services on GSM networks will be able to offer ZTE data cards in India.
ZTE is world’s second-largest vendor of high-speed HSPA data cards. It had shipped 10 million units last year. ZTE manufactures 3G and WiMAX data cards for HSDPA, HSUPA and HSPA+ as either multimedia data cards or embedded modems.
Zhang Yadong, general manager of data cards, ZTE said: “ZTE is reinforcing its leadership position in the HSPA market by announcing two innovative data cards that will provide consumers with a superior user experience. HSPA+ is an important step in network evolution as it will lead to lower connection cost, giving consumers access to innovative and effective services. More importantly, it will help carriers test out the business case for next-generation networks, opening the doors for LTE.” ZTE also said that its entire range of mobile broadband data cards will support Windows 7 and will be compliant with the Windows Network Driver Interface Specification 6.20, NDIS6.20.
