X2 Computing has announced the launch of its own range of iTablets, the X2 iTablet, right after the launch of the Apple iPad tablet. With Apple going for the name iPad, X2 has been quick to snag the “iTablet” name, before someone else did.

The X2 iTablet range includes a 10.2-inch and 12.1-inch XGA touch screen (optional multi-touch) with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and a large virtual keyboard.

The iTablet range measures 252 x 192 x 35 mm, weighs 1.18kg, and is available in white, grey, pink, blue, red, yellow and black colors.

It is powered by an 1.6 GHz Intel micro processor and allows users to choose between Windows 7, Windows Tablet, or open-sourced Linux-based OS.

The company claims that the CPU delivers 20 per cent reduction in power consumption compared to the previous generation of processors.

The X2 iTablet range offers up to 250GB memory storage capacity, built-in stereo speakers, three USB 2.0 ports, integrated 1.3 mega-pixel USB camera, and HDMI out.

Connectivity options include Bluetooth, optional 3G, and WiFi at specifications of 802.1 b/g.

The X2 iTablet will start shipping from April 2010. The company has not revealed the price at which the X2 iTablet will retail.

X2 Computing sells rugged tablets, tablet PCs, and thin client computers to sectors, such as retail, gaming, field service, industrial, commercial, military and government. Its range includes X2 312, X2 362, TK 230, Tuf Tab, and Industrial web tablets.
