Virgin Mobile has said that subscribers can continue downloading music tracks even after the subscription expires.

M.A. Madhusudan, the Chief Executive Officer, Virgin Mobile India, said at the launch of the  vJazz, that music application is the USP of vJazz handset.

He said, “Music is at the core of youth culture, bollywood, jazz, hip-hop, rock, alternative, you name it, they know it! Our studies indicate that the existing phones in the market allow youth to carry a small collection of songs.”

The company also said that with the Virgin Mobile vJazz, youth can refresh music 24 x 7 by accessing and downloading free unlimited full music tracks, anytime, anywhere with just one touch access to vMusic, the music client in the phone.

The Virgin Mobile vJazz has a 1-GB SD card and is available in wine red and black colours.

The vJazz also features a 2.0″ large screen, music player, music keys, FM radio, video playback, 1.3 MP camera, 1000 SMS and 1000 phonebook storage space, loud speakers, and bluetooth.

Virgin Mobile has launched the low-cost Virgin vJazz phone because the youth in India find music consumption hindered by the exorbitant cost of downloading full length songs, which is about Rs 40-45 per song.

The company said that it aims to have 5 million subscribers from the youth segment by 2011. Madhusudan said, “By 2011, the number of mobile user among the youth is likely to go up to 50 million in India. We aim to win 10 per cent of that market.”

The Virgin vJazz phone is the seventh handset from Virgin Mobile unveiled in the price range of Rs 1,499 and Rs. 4,250.

Besides Virgin vKewl and vTrendy, Virgin Mobile has also introduced vDesire, vBond, vRage and vGlide, said the company.
