Virgin Mobile has announced a broadband plan that comes with unlimited data use for a monthly charge of US $40, without any contract. This offer is part of Virgin Mobile’s Broadband2Go service that was launched last year.
Virgin Mobile’s unlimited broadband works through a Novatel Wireless MiFi 2200 USB modem that costs $80 or a MC760mobile hotspot available for $150. The mobile hotspot provides wireless connectivity for five devices working simultaneously in a restricted area.
A similar setup, with five devices accessing the net simultaneously on the AT&T network, would cost about $120 every month, and would be good for 2GB of data.
Virgin Mobile’s broadband uses Novatel Wireless hardware and works on the Sprint network.
The best offer that AT&T gives right now is 5GB per month for $60, and Verizon gives 5GB for $80. Sprint offers unlimited data access over 4G, with a 5GB cap on 3G, and comes with a two year contract. Clearwire meanwhile offers unlimited 4G at $40 a month.
However, it might make sense to find out how reliable each carrier’s network is in specific areas before deciding on the best broadband service for one’s purpose.
The unlimited broadband pack from Virgin Mobile will replace other Broadband2Go offers except the option that comes at $10 for 100MB over ten days.
Virgin Mobile also has an unlimited data plan for mobiles that provides 1,200 minutes for $40 per month. Like all mobile broadband services, Virgin Mobile too intends to target self employed or traveling workers, which comprise 30% of US workforce.
