Videocon, the Indian electronics firm, has announced plans to launch 15 mobile phones across India. Videocon aims to launch its mobile phones in the coming two months.
Videocon is a new entrant in the mobile phone segment in India.
As of now, Videocon sells 12 mobile phones in the Indian market. Videocon has tied up with Planet M retail outlets to sell its range of mobile phones.
Videocon Mobile Phones Division’s Chief Operating Officer Rahul Goel said in Mumbai, “We are very new in this segment and aim to be among the top three players by achieving a double-digit market share this year. We would launch 15 more models in the next two months.”
The upcoming mobile phone models from Videocon will be priced in the range of Rs 1,600 to Rs 18,500. The announced price range shows that the company is serious in targetting the low t- middle segments of the booming Indian mobile phone market. The company is not planning to introduce high-end cell phones which are priced above Rs 25,000, however.
In India currently there are 400 million mobile phone users and 10million are being added every month. This growing 10million base gives immense growth opportunity for Videocon, Goel said.
Videocon is aiming to become a major player in the segment by introducing new models and starting a new strong relationship with its customers, partners and operators.
