Toshiba Cell Regza LCD TVs with 3D capability and 240MHz refresh rate to be launched

Toshiba has introduced three LCD TVs, named as Cell Regza 55×2, Cell Regza slim 55xe2 and 46xe2. The televisions use Toshiba’s 3D Super Resolution Technology and Cell Broadband Engine and offer 240Hz refresh rates, 1,000 nits of brightness and 9,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratios. The Toshiba Cell Rezga LCD TVs have a capacity of 3 terabytes of storage and the capability of time-shifting up to eight channels at a time.

The Cell Rezga TV’s key proposition is its 2D/3D conversion technology helps user to enjoy 2D content in a 3D format by capturing and analyzing image in a 2D content and converting it into a high definition 3D image.

A 3TB hard disk is installed to allow the TV to time-shift up to 26 hours of programs from up to 8 channels simultaneously on 1 screen. 1 TB of storage is reserved for longer recordings. The LCD televisions can be connected with the Regza Blue-ray Disc recorder through an HDMI cable. This will enable users to record programs directly to the Blu-Ray disc. Recording times of three Cell Rezga  television models changes according to the number of channels selected by the user for recording. For example, if the user selects 2 channels for time shift recording, it will record up to approximate 102 hours of programs.

Cell Rezga TV buyers can also enjoy home theatre experience through these LCDs, thanks to its specially designed audio system and multi amplifier system. A 7-speaker sound bar is attached underneath the display, and network functionality includes DLNA support, and an HD Web browser based on Opera to access online content. The Cell processor provides self-congruency for better image quality, enhanced color and brightness balance, and a super-high luminance of 1250cd/m².

The LCDs are RoHS and J-Moss compatible, which helps control power consumption. Other features include simultaneous connection of upto 8 USB hard disks, roaming navigation, recommendation service to view ranking of programs and double recording function.

Toshiba Cell Rezga prices

Model 55X2 is priced at $11,430 (approx. Rs 5,32,855) and will be available in the market by end of October in Japan. US launch dates for the Cell Rezga television range has not been announced. Model 55Xe2 is priced at $8,000 (approx. Rs. 3,72,920) and the price for LCD 46Xe2 is $6,858(approx. Rs,3,19,685). The other two models are expected to come in the market by early October. We expect Toshiba to launch the television sets in India too sometime in 2011.
