This on the heels of an overwhelming response at MIPCOM and the launch of Season 1 in Latin America, Canada, and Italy, the Wolverine and the X-Men animated series is set to continue its uncanny success as it expands to other international territories including the U.K. on BBC and the U.S. in January 2009 through the Nicktoons Network, Nickelodeon’s 24-hour animation channel.  The action, adventure and drama will continue with 26 more half-hour episodes already in preproduction.

P. Jayakumar, Toonz Group’s CEO said: “We are thrilled to extend our relationship with Marvel and continue showcasing one of the most sought-after, iconic characters of all time. This second season will bring fans even more fresh and exciting stories and take us even deeper into the X-Men universe.”  Toonz in association with First Serve International produced the Season 1 of the series. The production of Season 2 will be undertaken at the Toonz Studio in Technopark.

Wolverine and the X-Men is an animated television series. It’s the fourth animated adaptation of the X-Men characters, the other three being “Pryde of the X-Men,” X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men: Evolution.

Eric Rollman, Marvel’s President of Animation commented, “The response to this series has been outstanding and the decision to move forward immediately with a second season was simple.  We are bringing together the same team who produced the first season and looking forward to continuing the success with all new episodes.”

I am SO stoked that there is another season of this show confirmed! The first season was amazing but not nearly enough to satisfy a true xmen fan. Would really love more of psylocke gambit and colossus. Also would be great to see cannonball and havok and with the first season introducing the age of apocalypse there are a slew of great characters that could be introduced. Also if X-Man or Legion was brought in it would be sweet!

I agree with having DEADPOOL stay on the whole series, and forever more…. His own series would be awsome!!!!!! I would buy every dvd that came out with deadpool on it. He’s simply the best ever!!!!!

I third the deadpool remark. He deserves a movie. I can’t wait to see him in the 2nd season and I hope he has a major, recurring role :)
