2 May 2005: Is it the next Walkman, going to
revolutionize move watching the way Sony's Walkman changed the way we listed to music on the go?
It could be.
As always it si the Japanese who gets a taste of the latest gadgets. A tiny contraption that can be slapped on to the lens of a normal pair of glasses is what it takes. The Japanese gadget-freak on the subway will now be able to watch any movie as if he is seeing it on a 14 inch television screen from a distance of almost one meter away.
The Teleglass has its own headphones, and a tiny box that will connect to a normal portable DVD player.
The people behind the Teleglass are not Sony or any of the other known names in electronics but a microscope-maker called Scalar.
If you do not wear glasses, you will have to get a pair of plain or sunglasses though to watch the movies. A .24 inch liquid crystal display on the contraption is responsible for the portable movie experience.
The Teleglass is not exactly cheap - at $475, some people may stop and consider purchasing a portable media players that come in sizes between that of a PDA and an ultralight notebook PC.
