The government-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has commercially launched India’s first mobile broadband fourth-generation internet access network – called Mobile WiMAX – in Kerala.
HTC Supersonic, the first 4G WiMAX HTC phone may be on way. Gadget blogs including Engadget reported that HTC Supersonic, a souped up version of HTC HD2 is nearing launch. The HTC Supersonic will be available only in the US, on Sprint.
Sprint, LG and Microsoft are set to unveil the first 3G WiMAX phone in the US, technology blogs said. Sprint is expected to launch the first WiMAX phone for commercial use during the Consumer Electronics Show(CES) 2010 at Las Vegas in January. Earlier this year, Sprint had said that it plans to launch its first WiMAX mobile phone in 2010.
BSNL WiMAX was launched in India’s Ajmer district in Rajasthan today. This is the first step in BSNL's plan to network the entire country with WiMAX technology in a matter of few years.
