The government-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has commercially launched India’s first mobile broadband fourth-generation internet access network – called Mobile WiMAX – in Kerala.

According to some news stories which came out in November 2009, BSNL was planning to launch 3G mobile services in the state of Kerala in December. It might still happen on time, but there is no new information on it at all.

The Government of Kerala, as part of its IT expansion plan, has committed to set up IT parks in every district and keeping up to the promise has handed over the land for setting up an IT park in Kollam.
