The Taiwan-based HTC Corporation will launch a power-packed HTC HD2 with 1GB of ROM and an extra 128MB of RAM on T-Mobile’s network in the United States. There were complaints (admittedly few) that the HTC HD2 came with 512MB of flash ROM which doesn’t help the device run as smoothly as it could.

True, the HD2 runs extremely fast – but we are greedy, aren’t we? Why stop at 512 MB when could have 1 GB?

The HTC HD2 is considered to be the best Windows Mobile-based device in the market currently. The updated HTC HD2 will come out in the US with T-Mobile in the near future. The HD2 was launched in Europe and Asia in 2009.

The main difference is the amount of RAM and ROM the new version will include — 576MB and 1GB, respectively, when compared to the 448 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM which is currently available on the HD2.

The HD2 works on a Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon processor inside, is equipped with a 4.3-inch HD touch-sensitive screen that boasts a WVGA resolution. It also features a 5-megapixel camera with LED Flash. Multimedia and connectivity are quite good with an FM Radio, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi (802.11 b/g), microSD memory card slot (SD 2.0 compatible) with support for 32GB cards. It has a 3.5 mm headset jack, GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and WCDMA/HSPA: 1700 MHz (AWS) / 2100 MHz connectivity, a 1230 mAh battery and Windows Mobile 6.5 with HTC Sense UI running on top of it. HD2 will arrive at T-Mobile with a 16GB microSD card included in the package.

Two of the hottest recent Android-based devices, the Motorola DROID and Google Nexus One by HTC had come to the US market without multi-touch features. These capabilities were included in the ones that went overseas. But now, it is the US’s turn to pick up the updated HTC HD2 for the first time.

This is a big boost to the HD2 running now on Windows Mobile 6.5. It is believed that the current, or at least the upgraded HD2, will be able to run Windows Phone 7 (Windows Mobile 7 after a name-change) when it is launched towards the end of 2010.
