Sony S-Frame DPF-XR100, DPF-VR100, DPF-D830 digital photo frames launched

Sony’s latest offering at the IFA 2010 is its S-Frame series of digital photo frames featuring three models – Sony DPF-XR100, DPF-VR100, and DPF-D830.What makes the Sony S-Frame digital photo frames stand out is the AVCHD playback feature, which is not available in any other digital photo frame in the market. AVCHD support is available via a media card on the Sony DPF-XR100 and DPF-VR100 models making them the world’s first HD video photo frames.

The Sony S-Frame DPF-XR100 and DPF-VR100 digital photo frames sport a 10.2-inch WSVGA LED backlit LCD screen and come with built-in stereo speakers and an alarm clock. They offer a viewing angle of 160 x 160 degrees. The frames are loaded with an advanced image processor that can display video (256 megapixels) captured with advanced digital cameras or high-definition camcorders.

The Sony S-Frame DPF-XR100 is additionally equipped with Sony’s own TruBlack technology, for better contrast and reduced reflection. End result? A sharper picture.

The more affordable DPF-D830 comes with an 8-inch SVGA LED backlight LCD screen. The highlight of this device is a built-in rechargeable battery, another first by Sony. The battery enables 100 minutes of use time on photo mode.

The Sony S-Frame DPF-XR100, DPF-VR100, and DPF-D830 digital photo frames all come with an internal storage of 2GB each. All three frames offer an auto-resizing option for stored images so that users can downsize large photos. The devices come preloaded with three music tracks and a Sweep Panorama mode for viewing panoramic shots.

Sony S-Frame DPF-XR100, DPF-VR100 and DPF-D830 Price

The Sony DPF-XR100, DPF-VR100 and DPF-D830 digital photo frames will be available in November 2010, at a price of $200, $250, and $150, respectively.

In addition to the S-Frame DPF-XR100, DPF-VR100 and DPF-D830, Sony has announced eight other S-Frame models – DPF-A710, DPF-D710, DPF-D810, DPF-D75, DPF-D820, DPF-D1010, DPF-D95, and DPF-D1020. Varying in screen size and internal memory, these frames will be available in the price range of $70 to $150.

Of the eight additional frames, the Sony DPF-D820, DPF-D830, and DPF-D1020 offer support for with Motion JPEG (AVI and MOV) files.

Common features of all the Sony digital frames featured in their latest announcement include:

The Sony digital frames provide support for Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick PRO Duo, SD and SDHC Memory Card, and MMC. The devices offer an optional USB cable and can display JPEG and RAW (thumbnail preview) images.

The Sony DPF-D95 digital photo frame is currently available in the market at a price of $140, but the DPF-A710, DPF-D710, DPF-D810, DPF-D75, DPF-D820, DPF-D1010, and DPF-D1020 will go on sale in October 2010. Their individual prices are listed below:
