Sony’s new motion controller for PlayStation 3, that was expected to be launched in April-May 2010, will start shipping between September 22 and December 21, 2010. Some reports have indicated that the PlayStation 3 motion controller will be called the Arc. But this bit of information has not been confirmed by the company, although it has indicated that ‘motion controller’ is a tentative name.
PCWorld has reported that the wand-based motion control peripheral for PS3 will be shipped to Japan, Asian countries, North America and Europe with ready-to-play software.
Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kazuo Hirai has been quoted as saying,”We have decided to release the Motion Controller in fall 2010 when we will be able to offer an exciting and varied line-up of software titles that will deliver the new entertainment experience to PS3 users.”
He further added that Sony would continue to work on a portfolio of attractive and innovative games for the Motion Controller, not only from SCE Worldwide Studios but also from the third party developers and publishers.
The company has said in a press release that the users will need to use the Sony PlayStation 3 Arc motion controller with the PlayStation Eye camera.
The Sony PlayStation 3 Arc motion controller will be promoted as the de facto controller of the PS3 platform along with the DUALSHOCK series controller.
