The camcorders are said to minimize camera shakes in three directions while shooting.
Sony had earlier launched three high definition camcorders with integrated GPS service from Navteq.

The Sony HDR-CX505VE camcorder has an internal memory of 32GB, while the Sony HDR-CX520VE boasts of an internal memory of 64 GB.

The Sony HDR-CX520VE comes with a memory stick in order to provide the customers with even more storage capacity. This is perhaps the only major difference between the two camcorders.

Both the camcorders have back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS chips with BIONZ processing in order to give quality low-light performance. The new models also feature Sony G Lens with a six-blade aperture.

The Sony HDR-CX520VE and the Sony HDR-CX505VE also feature the geotagging capability for video and the new Active SteadyShot image stabilization capability in order to capture images while walking and moving.

Both the Sony HDR-CX505VE and the Sony HDR-CX520VE feature the Face Touch mode for face detection that automatically detects smiles and also enables the users to capture photos and record videos simultaneously.

The Face Touch function also gives users the freedom to touch the face of the in-focus subject they wish to prioritize via the three inch touch screen.

Sony claims that both the camdorders can record 1920-by-1080-resolution full HD video.

One of the unique features of the camcorders is the capability to upconvert to 60p playback when connected to a TV via HDMI and downconvert to MPEG-2 (for direct-to-DVD transfers).

The menu interface of the Sony HDR-CX520VE and HDR-CX505VE camcorders contains an operation bar that allows users to scroll search the menu items and access them saving you the effort of going through the menu tool to search for something.

The Sony HDR-CX520VE and HDR-CX505VE camcorders also sport built-in zoom microphones with Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround sound and an instant power-on mode triggered by the opening of the LCD.

The Sony HDR-CX520V and Sony HDR-CX505VE will be shipped in September 2009 and carry a price tag of about $1,300 and $1,100 respectively.
