India has finally got the touch and feel of Sony Ericsson’s new touch-screen smart phone Xperia X1. The new smart phone has debuted in the national capital, sporting a price tag of Rs 44,500.
The multimedia device, which is an outcome of convergence between the entertainment and mobile web communication experience, is sleek and stylish. Sporting a 3-inch wide screen, a full keyboard in metal-finish body, the Xperia X1 comes loaded with Windows Mobile. According to user reviews, the 4-GB card can be upgraded to 32 GB.
Sony Ericsson has positioned the smart phone in the premium multi-media devices market, which nearly doubles every year, said industry experts. Among the unique features is the fact that Xperia X1 can be personalised through nine-panel user interface to suit the users’ mood and lifestyle. Further, users can also access content quickly and directly through touch-screen, easily switching between applications by flipping through the uniquely customised panels. The Windows Mobile feature ensures high data transfer rate and Wi-Fi support.
The Xperia X1 supports an-always-on 3G broadband nnternet connection with high-speed data transfer. This enables audio and video streaming, web surfing, multimedia messaging and email.
Among other features is the X1 arc-slider with a Java virtual machine that supports JavaME. The three-inch touch screen with 65,536-colour TFT WVGA display overlaying a QWERTY keypad emerges when the user slides the screen. The 3.2-mega pixel digital camera can record video at thirty frames per second in VGA (640×480) quality. The phone also features A-GPS for navigation, said a review report.
Apart from 3G broadband, the other connectivity options include HSDPA with download transfer rate up to 7.2Mbit/s, HSUPA with upload transfer rate up to 2.0Mbit/s, WiFi, Bluetooth, with a range of 10 meters, GPRS modem for dial-up Internet, Synchronization and content sharing with PCs, USB mass storage and USB cable support

This is at a RMP of 44,990 and is available for 41,000 at various sony showrooms in Gurgaon and Noida. Not sure about Delhi.
