Sony Ericsson xPeria X2 launched

Sony Ericsson Xperia X2, the successor to the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 has been launched.

The Xperia X2 updates many of the features present in the expensive Xperia X1 and comes packed with Windows Mobile 6.5. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 is the first phone to come loaded with Windows Mobile 6.5. The company has not announced the price of the new smartphone from Sony Ericsson. The Xperia 2 is expected to be in the market from October onwards. The company has not revealed the price of the new X2 yet. Some information about the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 had leaked our recently.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 has a dual keyboard – a physical keyboard which slides out, as well as a touchscreen. The touchscreen is 3.2 inches in size. : The WVGA screen has 65,536 colours on TFT, and has a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.The home screen and has an updated version of ‘panels’, first introduced in the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 last year. Besides, the home screen also has SlideView’, to keep track of missed calls etc.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 home screen comes with 14 panels, items which are of immediate use to the consumer. These include CNN, Windows Live, Mytopia games and Google. The panels are customisable on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2, and the company said that you can download even more panels – 16 of them – from the Sony Ericsson website. The panels, which were already present in the Xperia X1 help you keep updated, the company said. The panels can be customised – you can categorise the features or applications you like into categories like business, fun, home etc. You can set the applications you like for a specific time of the day – like you can prefer to read the news in the morning, business applications at work, Youtube at breaks, and games
on way back home.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 comes with a TV-out cable. So if you need to make presentations on a TV screen, you can display the presentations stored in the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 with ease. “In the fast moving world we live in, the need to stay connected has never been so important.” said Sumit Malhotra, marketing business manager, Sony Ericsson. “We constantly rely on our mobile phones as an extension to the office and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 debuting with Windows Mobile 6.5, allows users to work quickly and efficiently while on the move. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 also features a new range of interactive panels as well as SlideView, which provides quick access to frequently used phone activities – perfect for those who need to see any missed incoming activity at a glance.”

Sony Ericsson has taken care to see that the entertainment angle is not compromised either. The company says you can enjoy DVD quality video on the high-resolution touch screen with a size of 3.2 inches.

The 8.1 megapixel (MP) camera with 16X digital zoom is one of the most powerful among mobile phone cameras. There’s video shooting too.

Internet applications like Facebook, Windows Messenger and Skype are preloaded in the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2.

At this point, we do not have any information on whether the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 will be available in India or not. Price abroad too is not clear, though many expect it to cost around $ 700-$800.
