Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a US launch soon

Sony Ericsson will launch its Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a phone in the US on November 28, 2008 at a price of $799.

Though, Sony Ericsson’s touch screen smartphone, Xperia X1a, will hit the stores a tad later than the smartphones launched earlier in 2008, it is definitely in the race thanks to its super stylish look and features.

The phone has already started receiving pre-orders from November 13, 2008.

In terms of design, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a phone has a steel silver, metal-finish body with chrome accents, a 3-inch 16-bit color TFT touchscreen, and a full QUERTY keyboard. The phone features an arc slider design, which allows users to slide the screen to reveal the full QUERTY keyboard hidden below it. The maximum screen resolution is 800 x 480 pixels.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a provides a choice of up to nine panels that users can toggle between. Sony Ericsson has organized the major activities that users perform on their smartphones into nine panels. Sony Ericsson has said that it is working with third-party developers to provide more panels and applications to users.

Apart from the keyboard, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a allows navigation through a four-way key and an optical joystick.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a comes with a built-in 3.2 megapixel digital camera with 30FPS video recording and a bright flash for photos and video. Phone features include speakerphone, polyphonic ringer, and melody composer. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a also offers conference call capability. Video conferencing facility is provided by the secondary front facing QCIF camera.

The phone will run on the Windows Mobile® 6.1 Professional operating system. It will come with Microsoft® Outlook® Mobile, Office Mobile, Internet Explorer® Mobile, Windows Media® Player Mobile, Windows Live™, Exchange ActiveSync®, Voice control, file explorer, calculator, pictures and video, and notes.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a comes with a 256 MB SDRAM and phone memory of 400 MB – expandable to 32 GB – with microSD memory card support.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1a supports quad-band GSM, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, and HSCSD. The phone is powered with Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 for connectivity.
