Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini, X10 Mini Pro and Vivaz Pro launched at MWC 2010

Sony Ericsson announced three new phones, the Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini, and Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2010.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and Pro Android phones are, as the names suggest, compact versions of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 phone.

Both the phones have the same specifications, except that the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro comes with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The Xperia X10 Mini Pro at 120 gms is heavier than the Xperia X 10 Mini, which weighs around 88 gms.

The two phones are powered by a 600 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor and run the Android 1.6 operating system. They come with a 2.5-mm QVGA touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera,  Bluetooth, Wifi, 3.5-mm jack, and a new Timescape app that integrates a contact’s Twitter and Facebook updates, calls, and messages in one place.

The Xperia X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro work on HSPA 900/2100 and EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, HSPA 850/1900/2100 and EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 networks.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini will be available in Pearl White, Black, Pink, Lime, Red and Silver, from the second quarter of 2010.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro, that will be available in Black and Red, will also go on sale starting the second quarter of the year.

Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro specifications

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro has the same specifications as that of the recently launched Sony Ericsson Vivaz, apart from a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

It has a 3.2-inch HD touchscreen with a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro measures 109 x 52 x 15 mm
and weighs 117 grams.

It packs a 5.1-megapixel camera with autofocus, 4x digital zoom, geo tagging, face detection, smile detection, and touch capture.

The phone allows users to capture videos in HD and post them on YouTube.

Multimedia specs of the phone include FM, media player, album art, PlayNow, and video streaming.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro is powered by a 720 MHz processor and runs the Symbian S60 5th edition operating system.

It works on  UMTS HSPA 900/2100 and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS HSPA 850/1900/2100 and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 networks.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro comes with Wifi, Bluetooth, 3.5-mm jack, microUSB connector, TV out, USB, modem, and preloaded apps, such as Facebook, Google Maps, Twitter, Wise Pilot, QuickOffice, World Mate clock and weather app, and Rally Master Pro.

The battery of the phone offers:

Talk time GSM/GPRS: Up to 12 hrs 30 min
Standby time GSM/GPRS: Up to 430 hrs
Talk time UMTS: Up to 5 hrs 10 min
Standby time UMTS: Up to 440 hrs
Video call time: Up to 2 hrs 30 min

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro will be available in two colors, Black and White, in the second quarter of 2010.

The Wall Street Journal has quoted a Sony Ericsson press spokesperson as saying that the Sony Ericsson Vivaz and Vivaz Pro phones would be priced at around EUR450-500.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini and Mini Pro are expected to be priced at around EUR350 and EUR375, respectively.
