Sony Bravia ZX1 HDTV, the thinnest LCD TV from Sony has been launched in India. Barely 9.9 mm thick, this will be the thinnest LCD TV in India so far. Sony has made a bold move by upstaging Samsung’s recent launch of a 1.5 cm LED TV in India.

The 40-inch (102 cm) Sony Bravia ZX1 HDTV comes with a Bravia2 engine, 24p cinema, Bravia Theatre Sync and Xross media bar, some of which are already present in the existing Sony Bravia HD TVs. The advanced television also comes with technologies like Image Blur reduction, MotionFLow technology and EDGE LED. The new Bravia is built in a black bezel with glossy screen.

The Bravia ZX1 has a resolution of 1920 pixels vs 1080 pixels, which enables very high resolution. Sony Bravia ZX1 HDTV will be one of the highest-resolution LCD televisions available in India. Sony India announced the details of the Sony Bravia ZX1 HDTV at a function in New Delhi. The company has not revealed details about the price, availability and dealers who will stock the Bravia ZX1.

The unique feature of the Sony Bravia ZX1 HDTV is a wireless receiver. If you want to play a movie from your Blu-Ray player, DVD player or a Playstation console on the Bravia ZX1, simply connect the device to the wireless media receiver, which will beam the signals wireless to the Bravia ZX1. This means signals reach the TV without wires, and in real time. However, we are not sure if the same wirefree experience can be had if you want to watch regular DTH channels and cable TV. The wireless HD transmitter can beam images and video data to a distance of 20 meters. So, if you want to shift the lightweight (15kg) from the living room to the bedroom for a while, you don’t need to unplug and reconnect the cables across rooms.
The Sony Bravia ZX1 HDTV has a total audio output of 20 watts – including two speakers of 5 watts each and a woofer of 10 watts. Dolby Digital Plus, S-Force Surround, digital amplifier and voice zoom are also standard in the Sony Bravia ZX1 HDTV available in India.

The Sony Bravia ZX1 LCD TV, the thinnest LCD TV in India, will have four HDMI signal inputs and a PC input besides a USB input. You can also use the Sony Bravia ZX1 as a kind of digital photo frame when the TV functions are not in use.

There’s a still brewing over Samsung’s claims that its LED backlight TV technology is superior to regular LCD TV technology. Sony disputes this claim, and the jury is still out on the decisive winner in the battle for picture quality. In any case, Sony has quickly struck at Sony with its Sony Bravia ZX1 HDTV, which is much thinner than anything Samsung has to offer in India.

Sony last week also launched 13 new Bravia TVs in India. Clearly, the leader of the flat TV market is not going to take an attack on its turf lying down.
