With a minimalistic design, the Sony Bravia Z5500 HD LCD TV comes in three sizes, 40-inch, 46-inch and 52-inch with HD 1920 x 1080 resolution.

The distinguishing feature of the Sony Bravia Z5500 HD LCD TV is Sony’s Motionflow 200Hz and Image blur reduction technology.

Motionflow 200Hz calculates three additional frames per original frame, which increases the frame rate from 50 to 200 per second.

Sony’s Image Blur reduction technology removes the distortions of the current frame before the insertion of the new frame, providing excellent picture quality, the company has claimed.

The Sony Bravia Z5500 HD LCD TV features the BRAVIA Engine 3 for perfect color and contrast, built-in Ethernet port for DLNA media streaming, and AppliCast
that can display RSS feeds and widgets on screen.

Another feature of the Sony Bravia Z5500 is a CI Plus interface, which allows broadcasters to offer content directly to your TV without the need for a separate set-top box.

Some of the eco-friendly features that the Sony Bravia Z5500 HD LCD TV is equipped with are the Auto Shut off feature, Energy Saving Mode, and idle TV mode.

The Sony Bravia Z5500 consumes 30-35% less power as compared to models that were released in 2008.

The auto shut-off function, with the help of an integrated light sensor, adjusts backlight brightness depending on the background room light.

An optional power saving mode reduces the backlight illumination levels for comfortable viewing in dim light.

The Idle TV mode kicks in if there’s been no user activity for a while, switching to standby mode, thereby reducing power consumption.

The Sony Bravia Z5500 is expected to be available in June 2009. Reports say that the Sony Bravia Z5500 is likely to be priced at around £1800.
