The indefinite delay is sure to cause heartburns for thousands of fans, who have been anxiously waiting for the game all these years.

The announced delay of Gran Turismo 5 might also derail the plans of Sony to offer the game along with the PlayStation 3 console together in an effort to boost sales.

The Gran Turismo 5 from Sony will now make its launch in Japan in summer. The game will also be launched in the Europe and America in the summer of 2010.

Sony has not announced a new launch date for the game and this prompted suggestions that there might be more delays in the pipeline. The Sony  Gran Turismo 5 (GT5) is three years overdue now.

The previous versions of Gran Turismo have been higely successful and highly polular. The games gave Sony loyal fan bases in Japan and Europe. To gain more American customers, this version of Gran Turismo will have Nascar stock cars.

The reason behind the ongoing delays is thought to be the utmost complexity of the game itself. It is thought that eradicating the bugs in the game is taking much longer time than expected.

There are also reports that the delay is a strategy from the part of Sony. If Sony has already met the targets for fiscal 2009, it might want to push the game’s launch a bit late, to 2010, so that the new year will start on a good note.
