Webaroo launches SMS GupShup
23 May, 2007
Group messaging has taken the
gupshup route with Webaroo. The
company has announced the launch of a
new group messaging service in India,
called SMS GupShup.
According to a review of the new
service, the SMS GupShup is a free
service. It offers Internet users a
chance to create groups of any size,
and communicate within them. The
messages sent by the creator of the
group are forwarded by Webaroo, at no
charge, to all members of the group,
the report added.
Any user can join any group he wants
using a single SMS message. The member
can then automatically receive
messages posted to the group as an SMS
on his phone. The member users can
also use SMS messages to create their
own groups, and also to invite
friends, and post messages to the
group.
SMS GupShup is aimed at helping
Internet users to stay connected with
friends, receive alerts and
notifications, as well as stay updated
with news and current events. These
apart, users can also receive weather
updates or sports scores from their
favorite sources, said the report.
Other features include options to run
polls, ratings, and quizzes within
groups. The groups and their messages
are available online at
www.smsgupshup.com as an
archive, except for private groups.
Dubbed as a fun, new and powerful SMS
service for users of any mobile phone,
SMS GupShup is expected to be an ideal
tool for connecting with friends,
building new relationships, and
forming mobile communities.
