Sansui mobile phones in India soon

Sansui, the electronics major, has plans to enter the mobile phone market in India

Sansui will enter the mobile phone market in India through the launch of its ten new mobile phone handsets by the end of this year. Several news websites as well as newspapers report that Sansui plans to invest Rs.40 crore in next six months to create brand awareness and improve its distribution market strategy to make their products available to the masses. It makes sense for the company to move into the booming Indian mobile phone market. The company has not clarified if it plans to launch high-end smartphones or feature phones here.

The ten Sansui mobile phone models are expected by end of this year would include both the low-end and smart-phone segments. It is rumored that these handsets will come to market at the same time as the 3G rollout, giving Sansui a good start in the Indian mobile market.

Besides having service centers, Sansui has established a customer call centre to ensure better after sales services.

Sansui already sells its new range of slim, LCD televisions and DVD players in India. Now it plans to launch its Blu-Ray DVD player range by the end of this year.

Sansui’s new range of LCD televisons offers high audio and video quality and high storage capacity. The slim television features a touch control sensor and also offers access to tweeter networking website. Related: LCD televisions in India

Jaideep Rathore, chief marketing officer, Sansui said, “’We have launched our new range of LCDs with a plan to target a 5 percent share in the Indian LCD market by the end of the current financial year. We also plan to increase our market share in television to 12 percent.”

Also, the company expects a turnover of Rs.2,000 crore by the end of 2011. Currently its sales turnover is of Rs.1,000 crore.

Last week, Gartner forecasted that mobile device sales would reach 138.6 million in 2010, which would be an increase of 18.5% from the 117 million units sold in India last year. These whooping figures indicate that there is great potential for mobile market in India. Hence, almost all top consumer electronics companies in have made their presence in Mobile handset and now we have Sansui joining the race.
