The Samsung SCH-U490 is a slider phone that will be called the Samsung Trance and will be available in the spring of 2009.

Phonearena has reported that the Samsung Trance has a hidden numeric keypad and a touch control pad, like the LG Venus. The first pictures of the Samsung Trance show that it has a left soft key that allows users to move through menus and applications by selecting the choice shown on the lower left area of the display.

The Samsung Trance has a Music Key, Volume Key, Voicemail Key, Send Key, and Camera Key and a Special Function Key.

The Samsung Trance incorporates the new Novarra web browser and will not feature EVDO data access, like the Juke.

The phone will have a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera along with microSDHC expansion slot that can extend the memory up to 17GB, a 3.5mm headphone jack and 1 GB internal memory.

The Samsung Trance will come with a navigation touchscreen and Bang & Olufsen speakers.

The phone will be a sleek slider phone as was evident from the only images available from FCC. The presence of a full QWERTY keyboard makes it all the more stylish.

No official word was given by Verizon as to why they decided on a name change. Experts believe that Verizon wanted to give it a catchy name unlike the orthodox style of naming that has been around for quite some time now. There is no word on the price of the Samsung Trance either.

At this point, we have no idea is Samsung has plans to introduce the Trance music phone in India.
