Touchscreen phones are all the rage across the world now – and Samsung has launched another affordable phone to capitalise on the obsession.
The latest phone from the company is the Samsung Star Nano 3G S3370 full touch mobile phone.
Full Touch is not part of the name – what they mean is that the phone is a full touchscreen phone. Just in case you were wondering if it was really possible that Samsung is pulling a fast one on you!
The Samsung Star Nano 3G S3370 comes at a price of Rs 7320, very good indeed for a touchscreen phone. It looks smart too, with a nice curved shape and steel (or something like that) finish. Obviously, you don’t get a huge 4.1 inch screen like the HTC HD2 or a 3.7 inch screen like the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 – what you get is a 2.6 inch touchscreen. You can’t complaint about that – those two superphones mentioned are priced around Rs 27,000-35,000. You get a 1.3 megapixel camera, adequate for clicking quick snaps and uploading to websites or email. Related: Samsung Star S5233W WiFi phone
The phone used the touch-enabled UI TouchWiz 2.0 by Saumung. Samsung says that the phone has a four-page menu system like the popular Samsung Corby phones in India.
The Samsung Star Nano S3370 is a 3G-enabled phone. This won’t be useful for you for now unless you have an MTNL or BSNL 3G connection. However, the 3G spectrum auction has just been completed, and we should start seeing 3G services in India by the end of the year.
We took a quick look at the rest of the features of the Samsung Star Nano 3G S3370, and found that most of your needs are met. For example, there is a built-in Google Talk app, social networking integration (MySpace, Facebook and Yutube), mail, photos, FM radio, video player and mobile tracker… we do not see GPS or Google Maps mentioned among the apps though – so you may miss them.
