On April 1, 2009, Samsung unveiled its new touch screen slider phone the Samsung S8300 UltraTouch, priced at Rs 27500.

“With this launch, the company has a portfolio of four touch screen phones in the Indian market and 12 out of total 50 phones of Samsung are 3G enabled,” Samsung Telecom division country head Sunil Dutt told reporters here.
Samsung has tied up with BSLcell to offer 3G services for its Samsung F480, L700 J800 and S7330 phones that come with a free sim card, free airtime and free data downloads for pre-paid and post-paid customers.
“We have a wide portfolio of 3G handsets including our touch-screen phones to help the Indian consumer experience the full benefit of 3G services in India. Some of our 3G handsets, in fact, are being manufactured at our Noida facility,” Samsung India Electronic Ltd president and chief executive Jung Soo Shin said.
The Samsung S8300 UltraTouch is the world’s is first AMOLED anti-scratch touch screen phone that comes with an 8 Mega Pixel camera.
The phone is 12.7 mm thin, and has a 7.2 cm, scratch resistant, 240×400 pixel AMOLED display screen.
The phone has a talk time of 4 hours and a stand-by time of 300 hours.
The camera of the Samsung S8300 UltraTouch phone comes with dual power LED flash and a smile shot mode.
With the 3G bundle available with the Samsung S8300 UltraTouch, users can now enjoy speedy internet access, video telephony, video streaming and DivX video player support.
The Samsung S8300 UltraTouch offers GPS navigation, geo-tagging, 30fps VGA video recording and HSDPA 7.2 Mbps
The phone supports widgets that can be be dragged and dropped on to the screen, as a shortcut, to provide a one-click access to applications like Music Player, FM, Games, Calendar and so on.
At the launch, Dutt said that the company expects 45 percent sales from multimedia phones by December 2009. “Though there has been a little flattening of sales in 2008 due to slowdown, the company is expected to grow at 12-15 per cent,” he added.
