Samsung India has launched a new GSM mobile phone in India, the Samsung Pixon 12 M8910, which the company claims is the first handset in the world with a 12 MP camera.

The phone is available a price of Rs 29,990.
The phone has a 3.1-inch AMOLED resistive touchscreen with WVGA and a contrast ratio of 10,000:1.
The Samsung Pixon 12 M8910 camera phone also comes with Samsung’s TouchWiz 2.0 User Interface.
The Samsung Pixon 12, which is more of a camera than a phone, packs many camera features.
The phone comes with an accelerometer that enables auto-rotation. The Samsung Pixon 12 M8910 has a one-touch dedicated Camera Power Key that enables instant access to the camera function, and fast image saving that allows users to move to the next shot in 2 seconds, the company has said.
The camera phone also features Touch Auto-Focus (AF) tracking that allows users to touch and select a focus point after which the AF feature will automatically track it keeping it in focus even as it moves across the screen.
The Smart Auto feature of the Samsung Pixon 12 phone can automatically change the scene and mode based on the focal point, background, and lighting.
Other features include face, smile and blink detection, Beauty Shot, image stabilisation, video recording capability of 720×480 pixels at 30 frames per second, and a a microSD card of up to 16GB storage.
The phone’s camera comes with a 28mm wide angle lens, Autofocus, Xenon flash and power LED flash.
The Samsung Share Pix feature allows users to upload images and videos to social networking sites, such as Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, MySpace, and Photobucket.
Users can sort and manage photos by tags, file names, ratings, and time, using the Samsung Pixon 12 phone.
Users can also fetch images in groups using the multi-selection feature.
Connectivity features of the Samsung Pixon 12 include Wi-Fi and HSUPA capabilities, 3G, GPS and A-GPS, Bluetooth with A2DP, stereo FM radio with RDS, and multimedia player.
The Samsung Pixon 12 was first launched worldwide in June 2009 to mixed reviews.
