Samsung launches Wave II smartphone in India for Rs 20,900

Samsung has launched the second-generation Wave smartphone in the Indian market namely, Samsung Wave 2 or S8530. The phone is powered by Bada mobile platform, which is the proprietary operating system of company. It is priced at Rs. 20,900 in India.

The Wave II model comes loaded with 1GHz processor for multimedia and multitasking. It features a 5 mega pixel camera with flash LED technology. The phone packs 1500 mAh battery and 2GB memory card. Samsung claims that the phone offers 15 hours of talktime on 2G and 8 hours of talktime on 3G networks. (Related: Samsung’s new mobile phones.)

The Wave 2 features a 3.7 inch LCD touchscreen display, which is capable of providing a wider view angle and supports high resolution display. Further, the Samsung Wave 2 comes with an HD player and recorder. This player supports various file formats like MPEG4, real, ASF, DivX, MKV Xvid and WMV. Also, its display is capable of playing high definition videos (720p HD).

The phone supports various video files such as DivX, Xvid, MPEG4, MKV and WMV. Furthermore, it supports wide variety of applications from Samsung Apps Store besides enabling social networking applications such as Facebook.

Its Touchwiz 3.0 user interface can obtain multiple screens that enables users to sort varied widgets, feeds and applications while keeping them just a click away. The handset comes equipped with Quicktype by T9, which allow users to select letters of a word by swiping their fingers. And after you type in a few letters, the phone automatically spells out possible words.

Moreover, the phone includes Social Hub, which brings in together all contact information from SNS, IM and email, so that users can keep view all their current activities on the web and keep in touch with their friends.

Rajiv Yadav, the country head of Samsung Mobile and IT said, “The ‘Bada’ platform had been designed as a fully integrated platform which supports cutting edge applications and services. The launch of Samsung Wave II represented our effort to grow the ‘Bada’ further.” He added that Samsung Wave II (S8530) enhances the smartphone experience for consumers with advanced entertainment, communication, push email display and super usability.

Samsung Wave series now have five different models available in India in the price range between Rs. 7,500 and Rs. 20,900.

Samsung Wave S8500 was the first mobile phone from Samsung featuring Samsung’s Super AMOLED display screen and Samsung’s Bada smartphone OS. It also features the latest Bluetooth v3.0 and WiFi N. The price of this phone is Rs.17,500 in India. It features 3.3 inch Super AMOLED display and is powered with 1GHz processor. It is equipped with 5 mega pixel camera with autofocus and flash. The phone supports 2GB of internal memory that can be extended upto 32 GB vis micro SD slot. For connectivity, it supports bluetooth v.3, 802.11b/g/n WiFi and 3G HSDPA. Samsung Wave 723 (Samsung S7230E) is a full touchscreen mobile phone running the Samsung’s own Bada OS. It is a slim and compact mobile phone featuring 3G, A-GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity options. It has got 3.2 inch touchscreen. Other features of the phone include Wireless LAN WiFi N, Metallic back cover, Bluetooth 3.0, Flip leather cover and 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. It comes with a stereo FM radio with RDS and FM recording. It supports Java MIDP 2.0.Further, the phone includes features like smile detection and geo-tagging. It supports MICRO USB 2.0. fOR MUSIC, IT SUPPORTS mp3/wav/Eaac+ player. Also, the phone supports MP4/h.263/h.264 player. It packs a Li ion 1200 mAh battery. The phone comes at a price tag of Rs. 11,200.

Next is the Samsung Wave 533 which is a 3.2-inch touchscreen mobile with slide-out QWERTY keypad. It comes loaded with the Samsung’s Bada OS and features WiFi and GPS but one thing missing is 3G connectivity. The phone operates on Quad band GSM. It features a 3 Megapixel camera and supports Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi 802.11n for connectivity. It also includes A-GPS. Further, the phone comes loaded with features like Accelerometer, ActiveSync support and Social Hub. It supports TouchWiz 3.0 and Dolfin browser 2.0. Moreover, the phone includes a 3.5mm headphone jack. It comes with FM Radio and Music player with SoundAlive. It has 80MB internal memory, microSD card slot (up to 16GB) and packs 1,200mAh battery. Samsung Wave 533 is priced at Rs. 8,990.

Finally, the Samsung Wave 525 is a 3.2-inch Full touchscreen mobile phone featuring 3.2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and GPS with A-GPS support. It also runs Bada OS but is not a 3G mobile. Key features of the phone include Quad band GSM, 3.2 Mega-pixel camera with Smile detection and Geo-tagging, Social Networking Integrated Phone book. Moreover, it comes with Sound Alive 3D Surround Music Playback and comes with advanced TouchWiz UI With Upto 10 Home screens. Moreover, it includes Video Messaging & Streaming. Its 1,200mAh battery offers talk time of up to 14hrs and stand by time of upto to 38 days. It provide 80MB internal memory, microSD card slot (up to 16GB). The phone is priced at Rs. 7560.

    Can Android Installation be done on Samsung Wave II ? If Android 2.3.1 Gingerbread Installation can be done on iPhone & iPod Touch then why not on Samsung Wave II ?
    If yes, please tell how to do it ?
