Samsung continues to launch new touchscreen phones in India, the latest being the Samsung Jet 2 smartphone. The Samsung Jet 2 looks just like the Samsung Jet S8000 (also known as the Samsung Jet S8003), that was launched in June 2009.
The Samsung Jet 2 phone has a 3.1-inch AMOLED display screen (albeit resistive) with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.
The phone packs a Qualcomm 800 MHz processor and Samsung’s latest TouchWiz v2.0 user interface that offers customizable home screen with widgets, motion UI, and smart unlock. There is also an accelerometer and a proximity sensor.
Another feature of the Samsung Jet 2 phone is one-finger zoom that allows users to zoom in and out of files and browser using just one hand.
The Samsung Jet 2 phone sports a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face, smile and blink detection, and video recording at 30fps.
Connectivity specs comprise WiFi at 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, 3G, GPRS, GPS with A-GPS, and microUSB v 2.0.
Multimedia features of the Samsung Jet 2 include DNSe (Digital Natural Sound Engine), virtual 5.1 channel Dolby surround, 3.5 mm audio jack, stereo FM radio with RDS, support for MP3/WMA/eAAC+/WAV audio format, and DivX/XviD/ for viewing videos.
The phone’s 3D media gate allows users to access six multimedia features, such as Photo album, Music player, Video player, FM Radio, Games and internet, using the six-side cube present on the home screen.
Samsung’s Dolphin Internet browser allows users view up to five web pages at the same time and bookmark their favorite websites as widgets on the home screen. The browser is equipped with features such as an integrated ad-blocker, multiple downloading and background downloading, and multi-purpose address field.
Then here are the mandatory social networking widgets that offer access to popular social networking sites.
The Samsung Jet 2 will be available in India at a price of Rs.19,500. The company has said that with the launch of the Samsung Jet 2, its touchscreen phone line-up in India has 20 models priced between Rs. 9,600 to Rs. 40,000.
