Samsung i8520 Halo Android 2.1 phone at World Mobile Congress 2010

Samsung will launch its Samsung i8520 Halo Android 2.1 phone at the World Mobile Congress 2010, on January 15, 2010.The specifications and details of the phone were outed in the press docket that Samsung handed out at the WMC 2010, engadget has reported.

The phone has a 3.7-inch WVGA super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16K colors and a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.

It packs an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash, geotagging, smile and blink detection, HD video recording capability at 30fps, and measures 123 x 59.8 x 14.9 mm.

Other important specifications of the Samsung i8520 Halo Android 2.1 phone include hybrid widgets, 3G, WiFi, A-GPS, USB 2.0, DivX/Xvid playback, DLNA support, and Bluetooth 2.1.

The phone comes with 4GB ROM, 3GB RAM, and 16GB MoviNAND.

Memory is expandable up to 32GB via microSD card.

The phone runs the Android 2.1 operating system overlaid by Samsung’s latest TouchWiz user interface.

It works on HSDPA 7.2Mbps/HSUPA 5.76Mbps UMTS (900/1900/2100) and EDGE / GPRS (850/900/1800/1900) networks.

The Samsung i8520 Halo Android 2.1 phone is equipped with FM Radio with RDS, 3.5mm Ear jack, 3D Sound Effect (dual speaker), and supports supports MP3, OGG, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, WMA, WAV, MID, AC3 audio formats.

The most exciting feature of the Samsung i8520 Halo Android 2.1 phone is an integrated specialized pico projector.

More details about availability and price of the phone are expected to be revealed at the time of launch.

Yesterday Samsung had launched its much -talked-about phone, the Samsung Wave S8500 that runs Samsung’s new Bada operating system.

The Samsung Wave comes with Bluetooth 3.0, a 3.3-inch super AMOLED touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, A-GPS, accelerometer, MP3, WMV, DivX and XviD support, and microSD slot.
