Samsung has unveiled its Windows Mobile 6.1 touch screen phone, the Samsung i8000 Omnia II in India.The Samsung i8000 Omnia II has a 3.7-inch AMOLED resistive touch screen with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Despite having a resistive touch screen instead of a capacitive one, it is quite responsive, say reviews. The phone has an excellent display largely due to AMOLED that offers vibrant images.

The phone, that measures 118 x 59.6 x 11.9 mm and weighs 129 g, sports Samsung’s intuitive TouchWiz 2.0 user interface with Haptic feedback. Another reason why the user interface works so well.
The Samsung i8000 Omnia II has a 5-megapizel camera and comes with an accelerometer that enables auto-rotation. There is also autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, video recording with specs of 720×480@30fps, and secondary VGA videocall camera.
The phone runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, upgradeable to Windows Mobile 6.5, and is powered by the fast Samsung S3C6410 800MHz processor.
Other features inclue Bluetooth, A-GPS, FM radio with RDS, 3.5-mm jack, Wi-Fi with specs of 802.11 b/g, DLNA, and microUSB v2.0.
The Samsung i8000 Omnia II comes with 8GB of onboard memory, 256 MB RAM, and support for micro SD cards of upto 32GB.
The phone works on GPRS/HSCSD/EDGE and 3G networks.

Multimedia features include photo editor, video editor, Find Music, Media Gate 3D, DivX / XviD / MP4/ H.263/ H.264/ WMV player, and MP3/ e-AAC+/ WMA / WMDRM / OMA DRM 2.1 player.
The phone comes with a TV out cable as well.

The Samsung i8000 Omnia II will be available at a price of Rs 28,990 across the country. Recently, Samsung had launched the Samsung Pixon in India, that is more of a camera phone with a whopping 12-mega pixel camera, at a price of Rs 29,900.
