Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 demo video out, Galaxy Tab prices dip further in India

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, which had been maintaining a low profile for some time now, is back in the news with a 12-minute video showcasing its features.

Following the launch of the much-hyped Apple iPad 2, there were reports that Samsung executive VP Lee Don-joo had felt that they will have to “improve the parts that are inadequate.”

Tech blog AndroidHD has released a Web video of the upcoming tablet device by Samsung that runs Android 3.0 aka Honeycomb OS. The video is titled “One Day With The New Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1” and is directed from the perspective of an average user. And, it looks anything but “inadequate.”

The new Galaxy Tab comes with a 10.1-inch full HD display screen and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core Tegra mobile processor. Also see: Galaxy Tab 10.1 at MWC 2011

The tablet promises to deliver faster graphics for better gaming. The Galaxy Tab 10.1′s multitouch technology detects 10 individual fingers, enabling multi-player gaming.

Weighing just 599gms, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 features dual surround sound speakers with a volume rocker on the top. An 8-megapixel rear camera comes with flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera is available for video calls. Suggested read: Motorola Xoom review

The Honeycomb tablet supports Flash 10.1, A-GPS and HSPA+ technology. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is powered by a 6860mAh battery and would be available in 16GB and 32GB versions.

Galaxy Tab prices fall further in India

Meanwhile, as Samsung closes on to the release of its next-generation Galaxy Tab 10.1, prices of the original Galaxy Tab have been further reduced in India to make way for the new inventory. Samsung is generally quick to bring its latest products to India and the Galaxy Tab 2 should hit the Indian shores in the second quarter of 2011.

The Galaxy Tab is now available through Flipkart and LetsBuy at a price of Rs. 24,900. Flipkart is also offering a free Puma T-shirt with the Samsung tablet PC device.

The tablet was launched last year at a price of Rs. 38,000 in India. By January 2011, it was being sold on Flipkart with a price tag of Rs. 28,000. Read more: Galaxy Tab prices dropped

The Galaxy Tab with a 7-inch display screen has a 1GHz processor, supports Flash video, runs Android 2.2 aka Froyo, comes with two cameras, supports up to 32GB of storage and connects using Wi-Fi and 3G networks.
