Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 Android phone launched in Europe, CIS

Samsung has launched its Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 Android smart phone in Europe and CIS.

UPDATE: Samsung has launched the i5700 Samsung Galaxy Spica in India at a price of Rs. 14,750 with one year limited warranty.

Samsung has not revealed the price of the Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 nor has it said when the phone will be launched in the US or other markets. Though, it has indicated that the phone will be launched in the Middle East and Africa next.

There is no clarity as to when the phone will be launched in India. But if the launch of the Samsung Galaxy is anything to go by – the phone was launched one month after the launch of the phone in the US – the Spica should arrive soon.

It is also likely to cost less than the Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700, which is available at a price of Rs 28,990, via Tata DoCoMo.

The Android smartphone will have a 3.2-inch capacitive AMOLED touch screen with a resolution of 320×480 pixels.

It will sport a 3-mega pixel camera with auto focus abut will come without flash.

The smartphone that measures 115 x 57 x 13.2 mm and weighs 124 g, will be available in two colors, black and white.

The Samsung Galaxy Spice i5700 Android phone will be powered by an 800MHz processor and will run on the Google Android 1.5 version operating system.

The phone will have 180MB integrated memory and support for microSD cards for external memory up to 32GB.

Other features of the Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 Android phone include access to Google mobile services, such as Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, Android Market, and social networking sites, such as Facebook and MySpace.

The GSM Quad-band phone will work on 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and HSDPA 3.6 Mbps 900/2100 MHz (3G).

Multimedia features include support for MPEG4, H.263, H.264, WMV, DivX video formats, MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA audio formats, 3.5-mm jack, and Samsung’s (DNSe) 2.0, for superior sound quality.

The Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 is the first Android smart phone to support DivX format movies, eliminating the need to convert file formats, Samsung has said.

Connectivity features of the phone include Bluetooth 2.1, USB 2.0, MicroUSB, and WiFi.

The Samsung Galaxy Spice i5700 smartphone comes with a 1500-mAh battery with stand-by time up to 650 hours and talk time up to 11 hours 30 mins.
