Samsung Galaxy Pro, a full QWERTY, touchscreen Android smartphone, is now available for pre-order in India at a price of Rs. 12,300.
Flipkart’s pre-order page for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy phone went live today. The phone is expected to launch in the third week of April in India.
The Galaxy Pro smartphone is a dual input phone targeted at business users and young professionals. It was first unveiled in Singapore last month.
The Galaxy Pro is powered by a 800MHz MSM7227-1 Turbo processor and runs Android 2.2 aka Froyo OS.
Though the phone cannot be upgraded to Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread OS, it still has access to over 150,000 apps and services from Android Market, such as, entertainment games, interactive maps and news feeds.
The new Samsung phone comes with 512MB RAM and a pre-installed 2GB microSD memory card, expandable up to 32GB. For connectivity, you have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and 3G support.
Samsung Galaxy Pro encompasses the best of both worlds with its a 2.8-inch LQVGA capacitive touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard. The new Galaxy series phone comes with a 3-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and video recording features.
The Galaxy Pro boasts Samsung’s integrated Social Hub Premium that gives one-touch access to e-mails, instant messages and social networking accounts. Through Social Hub Premium, Twitter feeds and Facebook updates, work and personal e-mails and text messages are collated in one central contact list.
For business users, Samsung Galaxy Pro has ThinkFree Document Editor which enables you to edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents on the go.
Other features of the Galaxy Pro include Adobe Flash 10.1 support, Picasa integration, A-GPS navigation, pre-loaded Google Maps, digital compass, ambient light sensor, and accelerometer and proximity sensors.
Samsung Galaxy Pro measures 66.7 x 108.6 x 10.65 mm and weighs 103.4 grams. It is powered by a 1350mAH battery that delivers up to 11 hours of talk time on a 2G network and up to 6 hours on a 3G network.
Samsung is quickly expanding its Galaxy lineup of phones and tablets with new releases scheduled almost every other month. Samsung Galaxy S II and Galaxy Tab 10.1 were showcased at the MWC 2011 in February. Galaxy Tab 8.9 is also slated to launch soon.
Samsung Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Fit, Galaxy Gio and Galaxy Mini were recently unveiled. All these phones run Android 2.2 OS and have Samsung’s Touchwiz UI on top. All this has followed the popularity of Samsung Galaxy S smartphone that has sold over 10 million units worldwide.
