Samsung D720 & Samsung D730: Smartphones for Europe launched

26 August, 2005: Samsung D720 and Samsung D730 smartphones based on Symbian OS have been launched in Europe. The D720 and D730 mark the entry of Samsung smartphones in Europe. Both Samsung smartphone models will be launched in quick succession, beginning with Germany and then in France, Italy and Russian markets.

Samsung D720 mobile phone has a sleek design which slides up and is 110g in weight. Samsung D730 design is of the clamshell type, which extremely light (weight:97 grams). Both Samsung mobile phone models have compact, small designs with the same look and feel as other Samsung mobiles. '

Samsung is targeting both the new models D720 and D730 at business customers. Armed with Symbian OS, Samsung believes both mobiles are ideally aligned to meet the needs of business customers, from a both technical and design viewpoints.

Both D720 and D730 are capable of performing multiple tasks simultaneously, offering a very user-friendly interface. Both Samsung D720 and D730 come with Bluetooth and SynML, facilitating easy and versatile synchronization. Samsung has equipped both models with a 1.3-megapixel camera as well as MP3 player with lyrics support. Both D720 and D730 come with two-way e-mail function and instant messaging capabilities.

“Samsung's Symbian-based smartphones are built to satisfy the sophisticated tastes yet demanding lifestyle of the business user. The latest technology-leading features are packaged in a compact and fashion-setting design that distinguishes the Samsung phone. We plan to continue to introduce a wide range of smartphones for the worldwide market," said Kitae Lee, President of Samsung's Telecommunication Network Business. 

Both Samsung smartphone models have an internal memory of 18 MB and handle another external memory of up to 512 MB. Data from the smart phones can be transferred with a USB cable. An interesting feature of both D720 and D730 is that a business user can activate the 'flight mode'. In the flight mode, voice communication is disabled, whereas other business functions of the mobile phone remains active. This feature will be of use in airplane flights.

Both D720 and D730 come with enhanced entertainment options as well. With the Music Maker function, tunes can be easily composed on Samsung Mobile phones. Any of the tunes can then be set as an alarm or a ring tone. With the D720, the user can enjoy favorite songs with the dual stereo speaker system. Both models provide Bluetooth-based multiple games function enabling two people to play each other via Bluetooth.
