Samsung Electronics Co.Ltd launched its new entry-level phone, the Samsung Corby S3653 touch screen phone in India, on September 30, 2009.

The Samsung Corby S3653 will be competitively priced at Rs 9600.

At the launch of the phone, B.D.Park, Director-Telecom, Samsung India, said, “Samsung leads the market globally for full screen touch and recognizes the importance of social networking sites in modern mobile industry. Samsung Corby meets the needs of the highly connected and style-conscious youth audience.”

The phone will be available in four psychedelic colors, Jamaican Yellow, Cupid Pink, Minimal White and Festival Orange. The Samsung Corby S3653 measures 103 x 56.5 x 12.4mm and weighs 90g.

The Samsung Corby S3653 has a 2.8-inch QVGA TFT LCD touchscreen display with 262k colors.

The Samsung Corby S3653 phone comes with a 2-megapixel camera with CMOS sensor and 2x digital zoom.

Other features will include Samsung’s new Touchwiz UI and haptic feedback system, One Finger Zoom, and Gesture Control.

The Samsung  Corby S3653 enables live feeds for social networking sites, such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter.

The company has said that the phone also integrates social networking sites directly into the phone’s UI, allowing users to upload photos, videos and so on.

The Samsung Corby S3653 comes with a Quad-Band antenna that ensures that users can use the phone wherever they go.

The phone works on Quad-band GPRS, EDGE at 850 /900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz.

The Samsung Corby S3653 touch screen phone will also have a microSD card slot.

Connectivity options include Bluetooth v2.1 and High Speed USB v2.0.

The Samsung Corby S3653 has FM Radio with RDS, and supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, e-AAC+, WMA, AMR formats, and MPEG4 + AMR NB / H.263 +AMR NB video formats.

The phone offers internal memory of 61MB with external memory up to 8GB.

Samsung India has said that the Samsung Corby S3653 users can access additional applications through the Samsung online widgets store.

In mid-September 2009, Samsung had launched the the Wi-Fi enabled Samsung Star S5233w in India, priced at Rs 12,000.
