Samsung has announced the launch of its Samsung Xplorer B2100 phone, at a price of Rs. 6,800. The rugged phone will hit the Indian market in April 2009.

The phone is aimed at customers who need hardy and durable handsets for outdoors activities.
The Samsung Xplorer B2100 phone is water resistant; it can last up to 30 minutes in one-meter deep water, and still survive.
The company claims that the phone is also capable of tolerating temperature vibrations, and meets the US military mil-spec 810F standard. With the Samsung Xplorer B2100 phone, Samsung looks to widen its rugged range of durable handsets.
The handset is not very stylish but is ideal for users who engage in outdoor adventures. The Samsung Xplorer B2100 is a decent looking device that comes in several colours and has a very comfortable grip.
The phone has a 160 x 128-pixel display screen. This Quad band device with EDGE support also has Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP support, microSD and a 1.3-megapixel camera.
The Samsung Xplore B2100 has a storage memory of 7 MB and a music player with FM Radio with RDS.
The phone weighs 103 grams and measures 4.45 x 1.93 x 0.69 inches.
The Samsung Xplorer B2100 phone comes with a 1000 mAh battery with talktime of 9 hours and standby time up to 600 hours.
The company claims that the phone can adapt to tough conditions like rain, salt fog, and extreme weather conditions.
JK Shin, Executive Vice President and Head of Mobile Communication Division at Samsung Electronics, said, “With the launch of Samsung Xplorer, Samsung will be able to solidify its position in the outdoor phone market and continue to make products that excel in durability and usability.”
The Samsung Xplorer B2100 is expected to be launched in Europe, in April 2009.
