These are the days of new smart phone launches, and we here are going crazy trying to track every new product launch that has been hitting us in the face.

The Nokia N900, which has been keeping us on tenterhooks for the last three months is almost here.  The latest update is that the N900 would be launched in November 2009.

The Nokia N900 is available for pre-order already on web sites such as Amazon.  So if you are the Nokia N900 fanboy already and cannot stand the wait, we suggest you pre-order it so you get it before anybody else.  Not just that, if an unlocked Nokia N900 is what you want, buying one now before the product is actually released can actually save you a decent bit of money.

The Nokia N900 web site tells us that you can preorder the Nokia N900 right away.  When you click on the link, you are taken to a page from there you can select your store location based on your country.  Or of those country wise online stores may not work, so you will have to try it out.  For us, the UK store did not open but the U.S.  one did.  The N900 was available at a price of $649.

Other countries where the Nokia N900 is available for preorder are Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom.

Newegg is also making the Nokia N900 available on pre-order for $559.99

When we checked to see if the Amazon web site allowed us to preorder the Nokia N900, we discovered that the product was available at a price of $649.  However when you check, if you are lucky, the price might be a little lower.  We have heard that sometimes there would be discounts and price cuts. Nokia N900 Unlocked Cell Phone 2 GB–U.S. Version with Full Warranty on pre-order
(we checked the Nokia N900 Pre-order page on Amazon immediately after writing that line, and we can already see that there is a saving of $89.00 if you pre-order the N900 right now)

Why would you want to buy the Nokia N900, though?  Well, think about the Nokia N900 as a little computer with a mobile phone form factor.  The unlocked Nokia N900 can be used with any GSM network, just pop in the SIM card from your network provider
and you are ready to go.  Apart from all of the standard high end smart phone goodies, you also get a very fast processor, Nokia Maemo 5 operating system and user interface, 3D accelerated graphics, a slide out keyboard, five megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and video capture. The Maemo 5 operating system is built on Linux, and therefore you have the possibility of a very large number of apps being made available for the new mobile phone OS.  There is one GB of application memory and 32 GB of internal storage.
