OPTOMA HOME THEATER ALL IN ONE PROJECTOR MOVIETIME

Optoma all-in-one Movietime home theater projector

BY OUR TECH CORRESPONDENT

29 June, 2005: Optoma is not one of the major projector brands available in India, we think. Sure, we have seen some ads, but then the home theatre projector market in India is miniscule anyway - the corporate presentation projector market could be slightly larger.

Anyway, this new Optoma Movietime is a 1000 lumens projector which has got everything you need to get a show going at home. Its a projector, DVD player, and has built-in speakers. What more do you need?

You can use it as a regular projector too, of course. Which is good. This all-in-one home theatre projector (or should we call it a home theatre system as it has everything built-in?) is compatible with HDTV, something important if you are living in the US where the technology is slowly taking hold. Optical audio output for Dolby Surround Sound is available, and an optional subwoofer can be purchase for some deep bass.

This is priced at USD 1,500 approx., which if available in India in the grey market would translate to around Rs 65,000/- Not bad at all, we say.
