Nokia unveils full QWERTY business phone Nokia E6

Finland-based phone maker Nokia has unveiled its new Symbian OS based smartphone Nokia E6.

The E6 will carry a price tag of about Rs. 22,000 in India whwn it is released here in the second quarter of 2011.

Though Nokia has embraced Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 OS for its future smartphones, the first phone from this partnership will see the light of day only by 2012. Till then, Nokia is moving full steam ahead with its Symbian-based phones.

Recently, a Chinese website leaked pictures of an upcoming Nokia phone that runs Symbian 3 operating system. The phone called Nokia T7-00 is the first anyone has ever heard of a T series phone from Nokia. It was first spotted on Ovi Publishing Tools page.

The Symbian software that Nokia E6 comes loaded with has been completely updated and is called Symbian Anna. The update has ben done keeping business users in mind and includes support for Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Communicator Mobile and Microsoft SharePoint services.

A 600MHz ARM 11 processor powers the phone. Nokia E6 comes with 8 GB internal storage, 256 MB RAM and 1 GB ROM. The E6 is made of glass and stainless steel. It is slim and sleek, measuring 115.5 x 59 x 10.5 mm and weighing 133 grams. Also seeNokia plans for 2011

Nokia E6 smartphone is a dual mode device that combines a full QWERTY keyboard with a capacitive touchscreen. The 2.46-inch capacitive touchscreen comes with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. Because of its small screen size, the phone boasts a pixel density as high as the Apple iPhone’s Retina display.

The new Symbian Anna phone has a QuickOffice document editor that would let you view and edit Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF documents.

Nokia E6 features an accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate and a proximity sensor for auto turn-off. Other features include digital compass, A-GPS support, active noise cancellation with dedicated mic and TV-out support. The E6 is powered by a 1500mAh battery
