Cellphone giant Nokia will launch a new phone by the end of 2008 that would boast a touch screen. It is a known fact that the company had been staying away from touch-screen technology and banking fully on key pads all through the years. However, there seems to be a shift happening.
The new Nokia touchscreen phone will come with a 3.2-inch touch screen that offers both virtual keyboard and pen-input mode. A 3.2-megapixel camera and a built-in GPS receiver would be part of the pack.
meanwhile there are rumors that Nokia is likely to expand its music line with a phone that looks like an i-Phone. To be called the Nokia 5800, Nokia would be hitting the market place by the end of the current calendar year.
It is expected that the 5800 would sport a price tag of close to $300. An eight-gigabyte memory card, compatibility with Windows Media Player and Nokia Music Store files and the like include the expected features. Further, the Nokia 5800 would be enabled to connect to 3G and Wi-Fi networks and would boast of special social networking features including adding feeds for four of the user’s favorite contacts. It would also allow users to view networking websites such as Facebook.
Among the other features would be the facility to rip CDs to the phone automatically with a PC. The company will also offer one year’s free music downloads, said a preview report of the phone.
