Nokia E75, the latest mobile phone from Nokia has been launched in India. Nokia is pegging the latest mobile phone as an email device, with comfortable typing with its side slide QWERTY keypad.

Nokia E75 comes with a 3.2 megapixel (MP) camera, which helps you shoot photos with good image quality. There is also a built-in flash, for shooting in low-light conditions. The digital zoom is useful too, though, like in all digital zooms, the clarity of pictures deteriorates with increasing zoom. Since the Nokia E75 is enabled with A-GPS (assisted global positioning system) you can also geotag the clicked photos on a digital map on your Nokia E75.

The side-sliding keypad on the E75 mobile is a convenience if you are in the habit of typing out long emails or SMS text messages. The keypad also has auto correction and auto completion, which does away with much of the inconvenience of typing long messages.
With the extended keyboard, typing becomes a delight, but typing is not all. The Nokia E75 supports IMAP4, Mail for Exchange, POP3, SMTP protocols. It also supports email attachments, IMAP IDLE support and Nokia Messaging service. EMail setup is easy. The welcome surprise is the text-to-speech reader, which reads out the messages in your SMS inbox and the mailbox. The E75 also supports instant-messaging with presence-enhanced contacts. The messaging part also includes cell broadcast and IBM Lotus Notes Traveler.
The Nokia E75 screen has a size of 2.4 inches, and has a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels (QVGA. It uses 16 million colours. There are two home screens, with customisable active standby views.
The battery has a talk time of up to 5 h 20 min in GSM networks and up to 4 h 20 min in WCDMA. While using VoIP over WLAN, the battery will run for up to 9 hours, says Nokia. The standby time on GSM is up to 280 hours, on WCDMA up to 270 hours and WLAN up to 130 hours, Nokia said on its website.
The E75 Nokia smartphone also supports HTML, XHTML MP, WML, CSS, formats frequently used in webpages. The Nokia browser has support for TCP/IP, HTTP, WAP 2.0 and javascript versions 1.3 and 1.5. The internet-data capabilities also ensure that the Nokia E75 can be used as a tethered data modem – you can use it as a modem to connect to the internet from your laptop or personal computer.
The Nokia E75 smartphone works on the Symbian S60 3rd Edition operating system. This means that a very wide array of applications built for the Symbian applications is waiting for you.
The Nokia E75 camera flash has four modes: Automatic, On, Red-eye reduction, Off. The E75 flash, though, is not too powerful — it extends only to a short distance of one meter. The camera has several white balance modes: including automatic, sunny, incandescent and fluorescent. The camera has centre weighted auto exposure, with exposure compensation facility The image capture is in four modes: still, sequence, self-timer and video. There are multiple scene modes too, which are suitable if you need to shoot pictures in varying light conditions. Nokia E75 has several screen modes: auto, user defined, close-up, portrait, landscape, night and night portrait. You can choose from several colour tone modes: normal, sepia, black & white and negative. The E75 viewfinder is impressive too, with a grid to help frame the images properly. Nokia also offers you the option to share the pictures through Nokia Ovi.
You can also enjoy uploading photos and videos to an online album or blog from a gallery in the mobie phone.
There are two recording cameras on the E75, which means technically you can use it as a video-conferencing device: The main camera can shoot videos of 640 x 480 (VGA) size up to 30 frames per second, 320 x 240 (QVGA) up to 30 fps and 176 x 144 at 15 fps (QCIF). The front camera on the Nokia E75 can record videos at up to 176 x 144 pixels (QCIF) and up to 15 fps Up to 2x digital video zoom.
The images are captured by a CMOS sensor built into the camera of the Nokia E75. Photos are recorded on JPEG/EXIF format. The digital zoom extends to 8X. The camera has an auto focus lens. Focal length is 3.7 mm and the range extends to infinity. Macro focus is the range of 10-60 cm.
The Nokia E75 is preloaded with RealPlayer, which can play a variety of music and video formats.
Video formats which can be played back on the Nokia E75 include Flash Videos, mp4, .3gp; codecs: H.263, MPEG-4 SP,RealVideo,H.264 and WMV9. Also video streaming on .3gp, mp4, and .rm formats are supported on the Nokia E75. The multimedia capabilities on the E75 even include the ability to customise video ring tones.
The E75 Nokia is also a veritable bundle of useful applications and programs. Some of these are Java MIDP 2.1, Flash Lite 3.0, Chat and instant messaging, Nokia browser, JavaScript versions 1.3 and 1.5, Mini Map, Dictionary, ZIP Manager, Download!, File Manager and Nokia Search.
The E75 is also preloaded with Quickoffice. Quickoffice includes Quickword, Quickpoint and Quicksheet; so if you need to view edit or transfer Microsoft Word files, Powerpoint slides or Excel worksheets, look no further than the Nokia E75. The smartphone also comes with a PDF reader, which helps you check out important portable document format files while on the move. Moreover, the Nokia Maps helps you navigate with A-GPS aid, if youre lost in the city or the suburbs.
The Nokia E75 also has a good Personal Information Management (PIM) system. Its advanced contacts database can handle multiple number and e-mail details per contact and contacts with images. Support for company name search, assigning images to contacts, contact groups, Closed user groups and Fixed Dialling Numbers is standard on the Nokia E75. There are both analog and digital clocks: take your pick. Other helpful add-ons on the Nokia E75 include the reminders, calculator with advanced functions, calendar with week and month view, Converter, Active Notes, and To-do list. The PIM information can be accessed even during mid-call. So if youre on the phone and the person at the other end wants a certain phone number from your Nokia E75, it wont be a hassle, promise.
Nokia has also taken care to see that the E75 is a full-fledged entertainment phone too, apart from its business capabilities. It comes with a music player and a movie player. It can play back music in the following formats: MP3, .wma, .aac, AAC+ and eAAC+. The audio streaming supported on the E75 include .rm and .eAAC+. The built-in FM radio can tune from 87.5 to 108 MHz. There is also an internet Radio. The E75 also comes preloaded with Nokia Music Manager, Nokia Music Store support, Nokia Video Manager, Nokia Podcasting support, Customisable ring tones and option to synchronise music with Windows Media Player.
In India, the Nokia E75 will be available at a maximum retail price of Rs 26,299 in two colours, silver black and red.
The Nokia E75 also supports Bluetooth version 2.0, High-Speed USB 2.0, Printing Network (Raw), Direct TCP/IP socket connection to any specified port, USB PictBridge printing, Support for local and remote SyncML synchronisation, iSync, Intellisync and ActiveSync Micro-USB connector support charging.
The E75 comes with an 8G SD card memory, which can be expanded up to 16 GB. The internal device memory is fixed at 50 MB.
Data transfer is supported on CSD, HSCSD, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, HSDPA, WLAN, and TCP/IP.
