Nokia is entering the dual sim mobile phone market so far dominated by Chinese manufacturers. Apart from the Chinese, LG and Samsung also had dual sim phones on offer in India. All that is set to change as the largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world, Nokia, is about to introduce its own models to cater to this market.
Dual sim mobile phones are interesting in that they do not offer anything to the mobile telecom service provides. Instead of buying two phones – say for office and for personal business – people just buy a single phone. But the lack of choice was a major gripe for many who wanted a dual sim phone. For example, say you are traveling to your native place and will be there for a month. A dual sim card phone would mean that you could get a pre-paid connection when you are there, and use it in your phone so your roaming charges can be controlled without getting another phone. The entry of Nokia is welcome news indeed.
The phones from Nokia will be launched in 2010 – and they would come to India pretty quickly, we think, as our market is pretty important for dual sim phone manufacturers.
Dual sim phones are a low-end market, and a quality manufacturer entering it is always great news. Some analysts have expressed amazement that Nokia is moving in this old-fashioned route, instead of using something like Google Voice to juggle calls. But they do not take into consideration that for some of the fastest growing mobile markets, such features do not work.
The rumours are that Nokia’s dual sim phones would be launched by March 2010 – we hope it would happen earlier than that. Not just for our sake but also for the Finnish manufacturer, who is getting pounded in the smartphone market, but still is unassilable in the feature phone segment.
Chances are these phones would be priced at the low end of the segment, with prices definitely lower than Rs 10,000 in India.

I am very glad to hear this, and my dream of having twin sim nokia mobile will be materialised after a long time.
It should be designed very slight and with all features and clarity of sound and videos.

if Nokia will not launch Multi SIM phone soo, It will loose the market soon. I have seen low priced multi SIM phone with lot of
features. If these mnufaturers proovs the flawless functionbility, durability & stbility in the market by the time Nokia launches the phone, Nokia will definitely loose the market.
