News of the upcoming Nokia C-Series had first filtered in in July 2009, based on a trademark application filed by the company. Now leaked photos of the Nokia C5 has been posted on dailymobile.se.It is not clear if this phone will be called the Nokia C5 or something else or what the C in the C-series stands for.
dailymobile.se has reported that the Nokia C5 mobile phone will have a 2.2-inch QVGA screen and run the S60 Third Edition Feature Pack 2/Symbian S60v3 FP2 OS operating system.
The phone will come with a 3.2-mega pixel camera, 50MB internal memory, MicroSD slot, network connectivity via HSDPA/HSUPA, GPS/A-GPS, FM Radio and 3.5-mm audio jack.
The Nokia C5 mobile phone is expected to be unveiled at Nokia’s upcoming press event, along with another phone from the Nokia C-series, the Nokia C3 phone, in February 2010.
The Nokia C3 phone is said to be a quad-band GSM with Bluetooth and WiFi.
The specs revealed so far indicate that the Nokia C5 and C3 will be mid-range phones compared to Nokia’s N-Series and E-Series top-end phones.
Meanwhile Symbian has gone open source and the software will be available for free download from today. With this move, Symbian will cease to be a proprietary operating system and will be available to all.
With Google Android steadily becoming the operating system of choice, Symbian hopes to defend its turf with the new open-source software.
There is no information available about when this phone will go on sale and at what price.
