Nokia has officially announced the launch of its Nokia 5230 Nuron 3G smartphone, in the US, via T-Mobile USA.The Nokis 5230 Nuron 3G smartphone has a 3.2-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels, up to 16.7 million colors, and a virtual keyboard.
The smartphone is equipped with a 2-megapixel integrated camera with 3x digital zoom and video recording at 640 x 480 pixels and up to 30 frames pe second.
The phone comes with 70 MB internal memory and support for up to 16GB memory via microSD card slot. Bundled in is a 4GB microSD memory card.
The Nokia 5230 Nuron smartphone runs the S60 5th Edition, Symbian version 9.4 operating system.
It works on WCDMA 1700-2100/2100 and GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 networks.
Connectivity is taken care of with Bluetooth 2.0, micro-USB connector, USB 2.0, and 3.5 mm Nokia AV connector. The Nokia 5230 Nuron does not offer WiFi connectivity.
Other specs include FM radio, mp3 player, support for imap, pop, smtp email, full HTML browser, and 3.5-mm stereo jack.
The phone supports has a dedicated music key and supports MP3, MP4, AAC, eAAC+, WMA audio formats.
Applications available include pre-loaded Ovi Maps 3.0 for turn-by-turn directions. It will be the first handset to come with free Ovi Maps, on a US carrier.
Users can access and download more applications from the preloaded Nokia Ovi Store.
The Nokia 5230 Nuron smartphone has the following battery specs.
It offers Standby time of 438 hours and 33 hours of music playback. As far as video playback goes, it offers three hours for nHD playback and 4.6 for mpeg-4 playback.
Although Nokia has not confirmed the price of the phone, reports say that the Nokia 5230 Nuron will be available at a price of $69.99 on contract and $180 without contract, in the US.
The Nokia 5230 is available in India at a price around Rs 8,500.
Nokia has said that the phone will be available in the next few weeks.
