The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj compact digital projector camera will allow photographers to view images and videos in playback onto any flat surface upto 40 inches in size from a distance of 6.6 feet, add music and use a remote control and projector stand.

The camera would be useful for slide show presentations, but not for projecting very high-definition videos given a resolution output of 640×480 VGA.

Other features of the the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj compact digital projector camera include a 8 – 140 mm (f3.9 – f5.8) 5X optical zoom lens, optical image stabilization, 12.1-megapixel sensor with Expeed processing, a 2.7-inch LCD in back and Scene Auto Selector for beginners, and VGA 30 FPS movie mode with sound.

The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj projector camera will be available in September 2009, at a price of $429.95, in Matte black.

Nikon has also launched the Nikon Coolpix S70, S570, and S640. The Nikon Coolpix S70, which comes without the built-in projector, has the same specs as the Nikon Coolpix S1000 pj projector camera , except for an OLED touchscreen.

The Nikon S640 will be available at a price of £249.99.

Meanwhile, some other reports say that Nikon is planning to launch a new camera, the Nikon VP650, with a built-in projector. A French magazine, Chasseur d’Images, a dedicated photography publication, claims that the NikonVP650′s LED projector camera would project up to 8 x 12 size images.

The camera is said to be extremely portable and compact. The projector has been made by Foxlink, reports say.

The Nikon VP650 camera is expected to be launched in August 2009 and would be available for purchase by September 2009.

Being the first to launch one-of-a-kind products is not new to Nikon.

The company has made low-light imaging an everyday thing and has also produced the first of its kind camera that comes with a built-in GPS.

In end-July 2009, Nikon launched its D3000 and D300s cameras and officials at the company said that Nikon would come up with some ‘groundbreaking’ stuff
in August 2009.

The company has kept its promise with the launch of the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj projector camera.
