Nasscom awards for Kerala startup companies

MobMe and Light Logics, two companies incubated at the Thiruvananthapuram Technopark have won prestigious recognitions nationally for their respective innovations.

While MobMe won the Nasscom Innovation Awards 2008 for the most Innovative Startup and the Indian Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Parks and Business Incubators Association (ISBA) 2009 award for the Best Startup ICT Company of 2008, Light Logics Holography and Optics won the ISBA Award for the Best Start up Engineering Company for 2008.  Nasscom has been spearheading a special initiative since 2004, which has been designed to recognize companies that have made innovation a part of their organizational DNA, and use the innovation engine to reinvent their process, marketing and product development strategies.

The ISBA awards were given during the International Conference on Business Incubation held in Chennai from Jan 29-31, 2009 by Dr. Ponmudi, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education, Govt. of Tamil Nadu. MobMe will be recognized by NASSCOM during the NASSCOM India Leadership Forum scheduled to take place from Feb 11-13, 2009 in Mumbai.

MobMe is a two year old technology startup incubated by the Technopark Business Incubation (TBI) initiative and founded by a bunch of engineering students. The company has of late expanded to Kochi, Mumbai and Gurgaon with a 30 people strong team.  The company won the award for its flagship product Mobshare.in – a mobile content sharing platform and distribution network. They won this recognition after a rigorous selection procedure, followed by telephonic interviews by eminent industry experts and a grand finale in Pune.

Mobshare’s enterprise solution powers CNN-IBN’s and Mid-Day’s Mobile Citizen Journalism initiative, Follow the 12th Man service of Shah Rukh Khan owned Kolkata Knight Riders, Photostream on DSN’s digital screens in Café Coffee Day outlets, Snap n Share campaign in  PlanetM Stores and Mobile Crime and Accident Reporting Platform (MCARP) of Kerala Police.

According to Sanjay Vijaykumar, CEO, MobMe, “The challenge to keep continuously innovating has driven us to soon launch Mobshare with leading operators in the country. Mobile users having GPRS enabled handsets would now be able to start sharing their photos and videos directly from their mobile phones with Mobshare.”

Light Logics CEO, P T Ajith Kumar added: “.Light Logics as the best technology driven engineering and manufacturing company of the country, being incubated. As an entrepreneur and the CEO of the company, I feel proud to say that we are from T-TBI and we are from Kerala.”
