The Motorola VE66 phone, which sports a gleaming appearance and cool features, runs on the Linux operating system.
The Motorola VE66 has a 2.2-inch, high-resolution QVGA display with 256K colours. It is powered by a 500 MHz processor.
The Motorola VE66 comes with an LED flashlight that produces high-quality images, according to the company.

The other features include built-in digital image stabilisation and red-eye reduction.
Motorola has said, “The user of the Motorola VE66 can make use of the widgets and get real-time information for weather, cricket, latest updates on news and social media that are pre-loaded.”
The company is launching two versions of Motorola VE66: one will have a quad-band GSM/EDGE support but will not support 3G (for Chinese market); the other version will support UMTS and HSDPA.
The Motorola VE66 incorporates Motorola’s Crystal Talk Technology that is said to guarantee users disturbance-free conversations – the Motorola VE66 improves the audio quality by integrating a second microphone, which eliminates background noise.
Tracey Koziol, corporate vice-president (mobile devices) of Motorola, said, “The VE66 phone sports a FastScroll navigation wheel that offers flexibility to scroll down to various menus. The phone is also equipped with a FM radio and also supports Wi-Fi connectivity. It delivers on a consumer’s demand for more personalised listening and imaging experiences on a mobile phone. With a diverse multi-media experience, the VE66 truly enables you to make a statement and express yourself on your terms.”
“You can easily navigate,” Tracey Koziol adds, “using its FastScroll one-touch navigation wheel. The MP3 player, with USB 2.0, ensures high-speed access to data as well as downloads. The Wi-Fi connectivity lets you easily browse the internet. It also features an integrated FM radio with RDS.”
Motorola VE66 is slated to be available in stores in the fourth quarter of 2008. However, the company has not provided any information on the phone’s pricing.
